QCD Autocentre Becomes Skywell Approved Repairer
Introducing Skywell – A New Force in Electric Motoring
Skywell is one of the newest names on the UK automotive scene, yet its roots go back more than two decades. The brand began life as Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus Company in 2000 and became part of the multinational Skyworth Group in 2011. Today, the company employs over 30,000 people across research, design, engineering and manufacturing, with a strong heritage in buses, coaches, HGVs and light commercial vehicles.
In addition to vehicles, Skywell’s parent group produces a diverse range of products including solar panels, energy storage systems, televisions and augmented reality headsets.
For UK drivers, the spotlight is on the fully electric BE11 SUV – Skywell’s first passenger car. Buyers can choose between 72 kWh or 86 kWh batteries, delivering a WLTP combined range of 248–304 miles (up to 401 miles in city driving). The BE11 is available in one high-specification model, complete with a 12.8-inch touchscreen, panoramic opening Skyroof, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, a premium German-engineered Metz® 8-speaker sound system, and a 360° parking camera with automatic park assist.
Future products will include a C-segment hatchback (codenamed the Skywell Q), an executive saloon and a range of light commercial vehicles.
Skywell in the UK
Skywell entered the British market in late 2024 with a carefully planned strategy, appointing a small number of UK dealers and targeting family-run and independent businesses. The brand has also:
Established a parts warehouse and distribution centre in Northampton to reduce wait times for components
Opened a technical training college in Nottingham to ensure dealer staff receive dedicated product knowledge
Partnered with Thatcham and HaynesPro to provide visibility of service, maintenance, repair and body processes for aftermarket repairers
